Diakaridia
Mr. Diakaridia Koné, age 20, is unmarried and has no children. He lives at his uncle's place in the Hérémakono Nord district of Bougouni (third administrative region of the Republic of Mali). After his primary schooling, when he obtained his DEF (a diploma of basic studies), Diakaridia was not guided to a secondary establishment for scholastic reasons. (In Mali, the DEF opens the way for secondary studies.) He remained quite awhile without income-generating work. Because his parents lacked the means to pay for his schooling, he decided to follow his older brother and learn commerce, notably selling various shop items.

With his courage and perseverance, Diakaridia managed to clear a path for himself by opening a shop in his area. Thus, to obtain more working capital for developing his business, he decided to collaborate with micro-finance institution Soro Yiriwaso and is now on his first individual loan. He intends to use this loan to buy for his shop: sardines, cigarette lighters, powdered milk, sugar, soap, tea, bleach, anti-mosquito insecticide, etc. Supplies are gotten in Bougouni from wholesale merchants, and sales are made to a diverse and varied customer base, in cash transaction and on credit, payable monthly.

With this loan, he plans to realize a monthly profit of 22,500 francs CFA that will be used to expand his shop and to finance his schooling.
