Mrs. Lolita B., a 55-year-old married mother of five children from Libertad Bajo, Sinacaban, Misamis Occidental, began a business in food retailing to be of assistance in meeting the family’s daily basic needs and the children’s school allowances. Her regular customers are their friends, neighbors, and relatives. Lolita’s loan request of PHP 9,500.00, her twelfth, is intended as additional capital for her business. She dreams of a comfortable living, having enough income to sustain their daily needs and for their old age.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
