A loan of $1,600 helped a member to increase her supply of chickens.

Number One Group's story

White chicken meat is an excellent source of protein, containing all the amino acids your body needs to develop and maintain muscles. On top of that, it is a top-notch source of zinc. This mineral helps the immune system function properly and is necessary for some biochemical reactions. People in Zimbabwe are now aware of all these benefits so chicken has become very popular.

After realizing this, Joyce a 27 year old woman who resides in Hatcliff, Harare decided to start the business of selling chicken. Joyce restocks when the birds are six weeks old, fattens them up, and then sells them at her nearest shopping center. She is a hardworking mother of 2 who believes that nothing worth having comes easy.

Joyce started the poultry business 5 years ago and she has established her name in the market. Her supply cannot meet her demand so she has taken a loan to increase her stock. She joined hands with her three friends from the neighborhood who are also in the poultry business and formed the Number One Group. The four women are hardworking and determined so that when they attended their Thrive trainings they did not have problems at all. Joyce will use her loan to increase her supply of chickens.
