Florence Y. is 38 years old. She is married and mother of two children who are currently in junior and senior high school respectively. She loves selling goods, the business through which she obtains a daily source of livelihood. She has been selling bunches of plantains and cocoyams for the past eighteen years now to support her family. Plantain and cocoyam are favorite staple foods that supply carbohydrate components in diets. She takes delivery of stock from farmers who provide her with a direct supply. This enables her to avoid middlemen, who buy from the farmers and resell to her at higher prices. With this loan, she wants to buy bulk supplies of plantains and cocoyams to serve her customers. She hopes to use part of her profits to support her children in school. She belongs to the village bank called ‘Gye Nyame’ which literary means Except God.
