Afia B. is thirty-eight years old, married, and has given birth to three children: one boy and two girls. All are currently in the junior high and the primary schools. She lives with her husband and children in a rented apartment in a commercial town called Dwenase in the Western Region. Dwenase is a suburb of Sefwi-Wiawso, the district capital. Her husband works with a farmer.
Afia is a food vendor, preparing and selling rice balls. She has been in business for three years. She sells on a table by the roadside from morning to evening. She buys her goods from Kumasi and wants a loan to buy bags of rice and other ingredients in bulk. She aspires to expand her business and give her children a good education.
