Afila A. is 50 years old and comes from a large and humble family. She is married and the loving mother of five daughters. She started her business in 2001 with the aim to help his husband. Now she dedicates herself to raising and selling cows. With the income she generates she provides a better quality of life for her children, who are her greatest joy. Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded by a group of 32 Imishli farmers in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It boasts a portfolio of nearly $5 million and is wholly owned by its more than 3,500 borrowers, as of December 2011.
