The members of the Santiago Parada Loan Group are represented by Silvia. The group consists of twelve members, among whom there is a family relationship between Señora Sonia and Señora Luz Marina who are sisters but who have independent incomes. In general, the members are engaged in the sale of products such as cosmetics, shoes, CD's, clothing and prepared food. As in any business situation, there is the competition of supply and demand for products but the group members know that they must respond to this with work and effort. The loan is intended for product diversification such as for the acquisition of materials, ingredients and tools that will help to generate greater incomes for the sustenance of their families.
Despite the fact that this is a relatively new group, they have experience in solidarity groups thanks to their particpation in entities similar to the Fundación Agrocapital which is giving them economic support for their growing projects.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
