The Ankabenkélenkan 2.6 group is made up of married women from the village of Fonfona, town of Koutiala, region of Sikasso (third administrative region of the Republic of Mali). They live in big traditional extended families with their children, husbands, parents- and sisters-in-law etc. Their average age is 42 and they have at least 6 children each. They mainly cultivate rice and peanuts.

Wishing to make their agricultural businesses more profitable, the members of the Ankabenkélenkan 2.6 group decided to join the loan program of Soro Yiriwaso 5 years ago. After having correctly reimbursed their first four loans, they are now on their 5th rural loan.

This loan will be used to buy a sufficient quantity of peanut and rice seed, various minor materials, and intrants for their crops in the markets of Fonfona, M’pessoba, and Zansoni. After the rainy season, the harvests are stocked for a certain time so that they gain in value before being sold in the market of M’pessoba and the surrounding markets, retail and wholesale, for cash, to a clientele coming mostly from the big cities.

Each of the members of the Ankabenkélenkan 2.6 group expects to make a profit of 65,000 F CFA which will be used to reimburse the loan and for current family expenses.

PREMIER ET DERNIER FEED BACK

Entrepreneur: Ankabenkélenkan 2. 6 Group
Location: Koutiala, Mali
