The "San Miguel" Group is represented by Mrs. Amparo Nadia and composed of 13 unrelated female members. A majority of the members work in the commercialization and sale of different products like clothes, cosmetics, bread, and cleaning services, beauty salons, and public education. Within this commerce there exists a lot of competition in offering services and merchandise; thus, the members must work twice as hard in order to acquire a daily income to maintain their families.

For this reason they require a loan to purchase work material and tools in order to be more efficient and orderly, as well as to increase the merchandise that will offer them a better income and a better quality of life for their families. The members are in their second cycle together, so they are familiar with the work methods of the Foundation, in which they proved to be capable of fulfilling their obligations punctually and responsibly, demonstrating unity within their group.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
