The two persons shown in the picture are Mrs. Pann K. and her husband. Pann K. is 34 years old, married, and the mother of five children. All five of them are teenagers and are attending the local secondary school. Pann K. currently sells fresh fish caught by her husband as well as some bought from her wholesale supplier. She earns approximately $5 each day to put toward her family's daily expenses. Pann K. has requested a loan of $700 for her husband to purchase additional fish tools for the approaching fishing season.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
