Waiza baji and Shaheena baji each want a loan to buy electric supplies (wires, switchboards and switches) for their electric shops.

Nasreen baji is the group leader of these four ladies. They all belong to a city named Kot Radha Kishan, Pakistan. Her husband's name is Rauf. He has an animal-selling business. He specifically sells goats to the butchers. Nasreen baji is applying for a loan to buy goats to expand her husband’s animal-selling business.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.




Important Information About This Loan
Asasah is the Kiva Field Partner in Pakistan that manages this loan. Though the State Bank of Pakistan has approved repayments on outstanding funds as of November 25th, 2009, it has come to Kiva’s attention that, due to the unique nature of Kiva’s model, future repayments to Kiva lenders could be subject to a case-by-case review by the State Bank of Pakistan. We want to make all Kiva lenders who are considering lending to entrepreneurs working with Asasah aware that, by lending to these entrepreneurs, they are taking on the additional risk that there may be an indefinite delay in repayments. Kiva will continue to work with Asasah on behalf of Kiva lenders to resolve any repayment issues should they arise.


About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee. Under this arrangement, each member of the group supports one another and is responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults. Learn more
