Alima Alhassan

Alima Alhassan is forty-five years old. She is married and the mother of six children. All of the children are in school. She has been a manufacturer of palm oil for seven years now. Palm oil is produced from palm nut fruits, and the palm kernel is a by-product of palm oil which is produced first. The palm kernel is processed through various stages to obtain the palm kernel oil.

Alima produces and supplies the oil to food vendors to prepare their meals, and she even treks to the villages to purchase the finished product elsewhere when demand becomes very high. She wants to use the loan to buy more bags of palm nuts and gallon containers to store the oil, and to increase her efficiency by producing oil in larger quantities. She believes this will help expand her business and raise more income to support her husband, to provide food for her family and to finance her children's education. She belongs to a village bank called ‘‘Hwe die Nyame Aye’ which means "see what the Lord has done."
