Rong R. is thirty-two years old and is a construction worker who earns a daily income of $4. He lives with his two young children and his wife, Chheoun Kosal, who is twenty-nine and an accomplished, experienced seamstress and tailor. To improve their standard of living, Rong has decided to take out a loan to buy more fabric for his wife's business, which will generate a higher daily income for the family. He hopes he will be able to open a tailor shop near the market in his own province. He would also like to build a new modern house, and help his children further their education as teachers.
