Elchin H., 27-year-old single farmer living with his parents, breeds cows for milk production. He is in charge of pasturing and looking after cows, while his mother makes milk products such as cheese and yoghurt. Milk products are very popular among local people and they bring good income to Elchin`s family. Now he would like to expand his business and purchase two milk cows and one calf.
Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded by a group of 32 Imishli farmers in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It boasts a portfolio of nearly $5 million and is wholly owned by its more than 3,500 borrowers, as of December 2011.
