Zaman Q. is a 38-year-old farmer who sells milk and milk products as well as breeding calves for meat production. He has been engaged in this business since 1995. He is married and lives in a house with his parents. He is the only breadwinner in his family.
Zaman would like to expand his business and purchase two more calves in order to increase his income.
Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded by a group of 32 Imishli farmers in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It boasts a portfolio of nearly $5 million and is wholly owned by its more than 3,500 borrowers, as of December 2011.
