Abdurashid's story

M. Abdurashid is 59 years old. Together with his wife, they have three children.

For 25 years Abdurashid has been selling flowers. His trading place is located in the central market of the city and he works from the early morning till late at night. Once every two weeks, he travels to Uzbekistan, the neighboring country, to purchase flowers.

During the years of his career, Abdurashid became an expert in his business, knowing even how to save the flowers during a severe winter. The business is successful, generating a stable income for the family.

Today Abdurashid requests $1400. The loan will be spent on purchasing flowers to sell. Abdurashid thanks all for supporting him and promises to be precise in loan repayment.

Tajikistan is known for its rich history, which includes a key post along the Silk Road and the end of Alexander the Great's rule. These conditions have resulted in high levels of unemployment and have forced hundreds of thousands to seek work in other countries, mainly Russia. While the people of Tajikistan are working to improve its agricultural production and manufacturing sector, nearly two-thirds of the population still live in abject poverty.
