A loan of $425 helped to buy a hair dryer, iron and other necessary hair supplies for her business.

Tungalag's story

Tungalag Z., 23, is a married mother of one child. Her family lives in a "ger" (traditional nomadic tent) district in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia. Tungalag is a professional barber. She has been renting a small space north of town to run a barber shop. Her average daily income is 20,000 tugrugs (1 USD=1,400 MNT). Half of her income goes towards her rental fee. Even though the price of a haircut is very low in her area, she compensates by having many repeat clients. Her hope is to save little by little and then to open her own beauty salon in ten years. Her husband, Batbayar, is a self-employed photographer. Tungalag requests a loan to buy a hair dryer, hair iron and other necessary supplies for her business.
