Adwoa B. is 45 years old. She is widowed and has given birth to three children, one son and two daughters. She says one of her children has completed school and is currently learning a trade. The rest are in the senior high school. She lives with her children in a rented apartment in a farming/commercial town called Takorase, near Akim Oda in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
Adwoa is a trader. She trades in earthenware and all kinds of household items such as coal pots, brooms, etc. She procures the wares and the other items from wholesalers in Oda. Adwoa sells in a kiosk in the community market. She has been in business for eight years and desires to expand her business. She wants a loan to procure more goods to increase her stock. Adwoa hopes to improve her standard of living.
