San
Mrs. San Y., 52, and her husband, Mr. Soeun Saing, 54, live on an island in the Mekong River about fifteen kilometers from Phnom Penh. They were married in 1979 and have four children: three sons and one daughter. Two of their sons do construction work with their father, and the other two children assist their mother in her farming business.

San has been a farmer for twenty years. Her husband has been a wooden-house builder for three years. The couple is in the process of building a new house but they lack some money to finish it. So San is asking for a loan of $1,000 to add to her own money to purchase construction materials to finish her house.
