The community bank “Reynita D. Belen D. Ccorao" was founded 6 years ago and is located in the Corroa community in the city of Cusco.

Our members are all involved in agriculture, and during the dry season, the vast majority of the members sell artwork, as Corroa is an obligatory stop in the touristic route through Pisac. Corroa is a land of artisans. There are entire workshops of handicrafts and Alpaca wool fabrics, laces, hats for the cold weather, gloves, ponchos, scarves, sweaters and much more. Almost everyone in the village lives off of the sales of their handicrafts. A minority sector has small shops which sell mineral water, cookies, soft drinks, chocolates, and alternate this activity with their crafts. The loan is needed to invest in merchandise, as the high season for tourists has already begun.

The group members are extremely thankful for the loan they will be granted, as in their area they have not been able to find a financing institution. They promise to repay the entire loan amount on schedule.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
