Kwame A. is a fifty-eight-year-old married man and a father of five. The first four born are currently in senior high and junior high schools. The youngest has yet to start school. His wife is a petty trader. She trades in food items such as yams, plantains, cassava, and the like. Kwame lives with the family in a rented apartment in a town called Achiase. Achiase is farming and a busy trading community in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
Kwame is in the sand winning business. He acquires pieces of land, hires workers who dig for the sand and sells the product to building contractors in dump trucks. After winning the sand, the land returns to the owner from whom he acquired it.
Kwame has been in business for fifteen years. He hopes to give his children the best education possible.
