Imelda
Señora Imelda is 51 years of age and resides in Laureles Norte in the city of Managua with her four older children. Two of them are dependent still upon her. She works doing household services, which is an exhausting job but she must move forward so she may offer her children a life with better conditions. This is her third cycle with Afodenic, to whom she gives thanks for the support that has been offered to her so far. With this credit request, she is going to buy construction materials to change the roof of her house. It is in a bad state and she desires to complete this project before the first rains of May fall. Her plans are to have good health and continue working in order to continue making improvements to her house since though it is partially concrete, the rest of it is made of zinc and cardboard. One of her yearnings is to be able to have a decent house.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
