These are our associates, the cooperative bank “SEÑOR D. CCOYLLORITY – URCOS”; comprised of 14 members, this group is in its 4th cycle since inception. They are from the Muñapata community, located 1 hour and 15 minutes from the city of Cusco.

The people that resiD. in this community dedicate themselves primarily to farming; women alternate their agricultural tasks with the household chores, and the men with various commercial activities: fattening of large (bulls, cows, sheep) and small (poulty, guinea pigs) livestock. Other activities incluD. clothing sales during weekends at the busiest markets, food sales, selling basic needs items and cleaning supplies; many men work as laborers when harvests are scarce.

Our members value and are grateful for the loan granted through this medium, and commit to making their payments during the term allotted.

Estos son nuestros socios, el grupo comunal “SEÑOR D. CCOYLLORITY – URCOS”; conformado por 14 miembros, este grupo está en su 4to ciclo D. creación, ellos son D. la comunidad D. Muñapata, que esta situado a 1 hora y 15 minutos D. la misma ciudad del Cusco.

La gente que vive en esta comunidad se dedica D. manera prioritaria a la agricultura, alternando las mujeres sus labores del hogar y los hombres con las diferentes actividades D. comercio: engorD. D. ganado mayores( toros, vacas, ovinos) y menores(aves D. corral, cuyes); al negocio D. venta D. ropa en las ferias D. fin D. semana en los pueblos más concurridos, venta D. comidas, venta D. artículos D. primera necesidad y limpieza, y muchos varones en las épocas en que los cultivos están bajos son obreros.

About Asociación Arariwa
Asociación Arariwa is a large non-governmental organization that started offering microcredit in 1994 to improve the quality of life, skills and equity of the population in the rural Cusco region of Peru. Arariwa serves the southern Andean provinces of Peru, and is distinguished by its efforts to reach the very poor, who often live in isolated rural areas. Arariwa fosters village banking, supports savings accounts, promotes access to education, and empowers women entrepreneurs (who make up 78% of its borrowers).

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
