Update on Jose Mauricio

With Jose's Kiva loan, he bought a machine that milks up to 4 of his 6 cows at the same time. It has reduced the time he spends working towards milk production by 80%. He says the machine is efficient and leaves him more time to focus on the cultivation of coffee beans. This is valuable to Jose because the coffee market pays for quantity, not quality, and as his land provides ideal conditions for high quality coffee beans, he needs to focus more effort on increasing quantity.

Jose currently makes cheese at home with the milk from his cows, but has a short term business goal of switching to just selling the milk. It's more profitable but requires, again, more quantity. With the help of the new machine, however, Jose is able to milk all of his cows twice a day, working towards increasing the output and moving closer to his next goal!

Check out this video of Jose standing with his new machine. He has a great understanding of Kiva's impact on both his community and his business.

What a wonderful update! Thank you. It brings much happiness to hear that the loan has helped.

Blessings to Jose and his family for continued success, happiness, and good health. May their dairy and coffee bean farming continue to be bountiful and thrive.
