Mónica is a member of the “Las Surcanitas” communal bank. She lives with the father of her children and she is 31 years old. Her children are 12 and 9 years old and are attending the state school.

Mónica has been selling salchi-pollo (fried chicken with french fries) every day for two years. During this time, she saved up her money and bought computers so she could offer internet service in her house. Her husband and her son help her. Now she only sells salchi-pollo on Saturdays and Sundays, because she wants to grow her internet business.

Mónica needs a loan of 1,600 PEN for maintenance on her computers, to buy keyboards, computer mice, and also to buy a set of kitchen plates and cooking pots for selling salchi-pollo. Since she has been with FINCA, she has made progress. She started out with three computers, and now she has five. In the communal bank she learned how to administer her business, to manage money better, and to be punctual. Mónica’s dream is to have her own store for buying and selling computers.
