Irma has been the president of a popular dining hall in her neighborhood for 22 years. She has known what it is to work since she was a girl living in the country. When her mother sold clothing, she began selling underclothes, although she was very young. She grew up learning how to run a business.

Currently, in addition to organizing lunches in the dining hall, she also sells imported clothing and natural products. She carries out both jobs as a traveling saleswoman, and travels to various provinces to sell. She has always had the clothing business. She has been selling natural medicines since one of her relatives put her in charge of part of his work as a natural healer.

Irma is a very active woman; she says that she enjoys traveling and selling her products in diverse locations. She is aware, however, that at some point she will not be able to get around as easily as she does now. At 58 years of age, with her children grown up and independent, she is planning to finish building her house and open a naturalist store in her home.

Desde hace veintidós años, Irma es presidenta del comedor popular de la zona donde vive. Sin embargo, lo que es trabajar ella lo conoce desde que era una niña y vivía en provincia. Cuando su mama vendía ropa ella empezó a vender ropa interior siendo aún muy pequeña. Conforme fue creciendo iba a aprendiendo como hacer negocio.

Hoy en día además de organizar los almuerzos en el comedor popular también vende ropa importada y productos naturistas. Ambos trabajos los realiza como ambulante e incluso viaja a diversas provincias para vender. El negocio de ropa lo ha tenido desde siempre. Mientras que los productos de medicina natural los vende desde que un familiar suyo le encargo parte de su trabajo como curandero naturista.

Irma es una señora muy activa, dice que le gusta viajar y vender sus productos movilizándose por diversos lugares; sin embargo es consciente de que en algún momento no podrá transportarse con la misma facilidad de ahora. A sus cincuenta y ocho años y con sus hijos ya mayores e independientes, ella piensa en el futuro terminar de construir su casa y abrir una tienda naturista en su casa.

Update on your loan administered by Kiva Field Partner EDAPROSPO Entrepreneur: Irma Reyna Location: Location Undisclosed, Peru During a routine audit of Field Partner EDAPROSPO, Kiva discovered a number of discrepancies between the information posted to the Kiva website and what actually occurred on the ground. Specifically, many loans uploaded to the website before December 2008 contain inaccurate loan amounts, terms and/or loan uses. This is in violation of Kiva policy, and as such, as soon as we were alerted to a possible violation we placed EDAPROSPO on "pause." After placing them on pause, Kiva proceeded to execute a complete verification of every loan EDAPROSPO posted to the Kiva website; in total we examined 757 loans. As a result of our audit, we have discovered that 52% of the loans posted to the Kiva website by field partner EDAPROSPO contain data inaccuracies. 98% of these inaccuracies pertain to loans posted to the Kiva website before December 2008, when EDAPROSPO was under a different management team. After significant management turnover at the end of 2008, almost all loans on the Kiva website contain complete and accurate information and these loans comprise only 2% of the total discovered inaccuracies. You are receiving this email as we wanted to alert you that, after our verification efforts, Kiva cannot confirm that the specific loan you funded was actually disbursed. We can, however, confirm that the person you lent to is an EDAPROSPO borrower. Because EDAPROSPO has decided to guarantee all loans made on Kiva, you have continued to receive repayments on schedule. Because the new management team has proven that they are committed to providing accurate and transparent information to the Kiva website, and because they have repaid almost all of the inaccurate loans on-time, Kiva has decided to re-open the Kiva-EDAPROSPO relationship. During this new "pilot" phase on Kiva, we will be working closely with the new EDAPROSPO team, including their internal and external auditors, to continually verify new EDAPROSPO loans posted to Kiva, and if we are alerted to any new inaccuracies we will pause their relationship with Kiva and follow-up accordingly.
