Ali is a 25-year-old-man who lives in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, with his wife. Ali owns a coffee shop. He sells all kinds of hot drinks, cold beverages and "nargileh." The nargileh (also known as “shisha” in Egypt) is an ancient tradition enjoyed by the people of the Middle East. A tall (or short) water pipe is used to smoke fruit-flavored tobacco. Nargileh is enjoyed in cafes across the Middle East, and is beginning to gain popularity in the U.S., Europe and other countries. Ali requested a loan of $2,000 from Al Majmoua in order to purchase merchandise for his coffee shop. This is the first time that Ali has requested a loan.
