Sugran Bashir Ahmad Group

"My name is Sugran and I’ve resided in a city called Kot Radha Kishan for the past 20 years. I’m a 40-year-old married lady and my husband's name is Bashir Ahmad. He is a driver and drives a 32-seat local bus. I’m an uneducated lady but I always place value on education. I am the mother of two kids: one girl and one boy. My daughter reads in 8th standard and my son reads in 6th standard. I operate a sewing business. I have been doing this work for the past 4 years. I take orders from my relatives and my neighbors.

I use my income to pay the school fees for my kids and to share the financial burden of my husband. I have successfully repaid my two loans from Asasah (a micro-finance institute in Pakistan). Now I am applying again for a loan to buy an auto-rickshaw (a local three-wheeled motor vehicle), because my husband wants to quit bus driving.

I am the group leader for two other women from my locality. Suraiya baji and Sharifan baji each want a loan to buy a buffalo for their dairy business."

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.




About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
