Sarwari M. Aslam Group

Sarwari baji, the wife of M. Aslam, has lived in Kot Radha Kishan, Pakistan for the past 10 years. She is the mother of three children, one son and two daughters. All of her children get their education from a local school near their house.

Sarwari baji has a business sewing clothes. She sews clothes to share the financial burden with her husband. Her husband has a dairy business. He gets milk from a buffalo and sells it to the milk shops. Sarwari baji is applying for a loan to buy another buffalo to expand her husband’s milk-selling business.

Sarwari baji is the leader of a group of three women from her locality. Gaman baji, Jamila baji, and Asia baji each want a loan to buy buffalos for their dairy businesses.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.

Note: "Baji," which means "older sister," is a term of respect for women in Pakistan.

About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
