One of his children is a student and another is too young to go to school. Phal Part, is struggling to supplement his family, especially his parents by feeding and selling pigs and chickens. Eventually he hopes, the loan will allow him to make additional profits by purchasing more pigs and chickens to feed and sell at the local market.
In the future, he expects to expand his business by purchasing one more piece of land to feed more pigs and chickens. If he has enough money, he would like to decorate his house and to send his children to a local university.

journal update

Entrepreneur: Phal Phat
Location: Phnom Penh City, Cambodia

Phal Phat has lived in Kampong Cham province for 34 years. He is an accomplished pig breeder and is currently sending all of his children to school. He also lives with his two parents and wife. His aunt first told him about CREDIT and he mostly chose to take out a loan because of the long term loans available along with low interest rates and good service. He found this much easier than borrowing from relatives as he had in the past. He spent the funds on a plot of farmland on which to raise pigs. He earns about 5 US$ per day. The extra income for the most part has gone into buying feed for the pigs and his kid’s education. Education is expensive costing about 1 US$ per day per child, but it is worth the cost to him. He has faced a few financial issues in recent months but is still repaying his loan faithfully. He would like expand his business someday to raising fish as well and maybe own a small grinding mill.
