My name is Parveen and I’m a 46-year-old widow. I live in Lahore which famous for its historical places and for its Punjabi foods. I’m a mother of two kids: one son and one daughter. My son works in an iron business where he uses iron for making iron rods. My daughter is 14 years old and she studied in the 7th standard. When my husband died, my daughter quit her studies but I and my son motivated her to study further. I work in a clothes selling business. I buy clothes from the famous markets of Lahore such as “Azam Market & Ichra” and sell in the community to my neighbors. I have successfully repaid my two loans from Asasah (a microfinance institute of Pakistan). Now I am applying again for a loan to buy iron to expand my son’s iron rods making business.

I am the group leader of four other women from my locality. Nargis Baji and Ashi Baji each want a loan to buy iron to sell. Akbari Baji wants a loan to buy leather to sell. Asma Baji wants a loan to buy electric supplies (wires, switch boards and switches) to sell.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.
