The Arca de Noe (Noah's Ark) loan group are three responsible women who want to get ahead. They are also close neighbors who have lots of experience in their daily activities. Here is a description of this group:
Señora Lucrecia is 56 years of age and has been engaged for 15 years in the business of selling condiments. She gets up early to prepare the line of spices (fragrant pepper, consomme, savory, garlic salt, onion salt, saffron, cinnamon, curry, linseed) which she sells in Talanga, Catacamas, Tatumbla and other towns in the vicinity of the capital city. Since she supplies the storekeepers in these places, her products are selling well. Her goal this year is to be able to distribute her products in other towns and villages.
Señora Yolanda is 55 years of age and a single mother. Her son is completely dependent on her since she is still paying for his education. She sells shoes for women and children, underwear, socks, t-shirts, tablecloths and bedspreads. She has many established customers who come each month to buy from her at her house. Her customers like her because she is very pleasant with them and gives good prices to returning customers. She needs this loan in order to buy more clothing, curtains, handbags and sandals. Her dream is to have a variety store from which she could sell lots of merchandise.
Señora Blanca is 40 years of age. She has dedicated the last 15 years to her sewing shop. She produces articles of clothing, such as slacks, skirts and blouses. She also has a mini-mart and she needs this loan to buy products for this store, such as butter, cheese and meats, and to improve the quality of her business. She is a single mother with two daughters who are still in school.
