Benkadi of the association Kotognontala is a group of seven women of the 2nd district of the city of Koutiala who know one another well. They are married mothers who average 38 years of age and have at least 6 children each. They do different work, selling condiments, pasta, shoes, grains, and clothing at the wholesale level.

To expand their businesses, the group members decided to join the Soro Yiriwaso loan program three years ago. The loan amount has gone from 50,000 francs CFA for the first loan to 125,000 francs for the fourth group loan. All the preceding loans have been correctly repaid.

The current loan will be used to buy sacks of rice, some garlic, big onions from Niono, boxes of macaroni from Ghana and Dakar, and various other goods from Abidjan (capital of Cote d'Ivoire) and from Bamako (capital of Mali). These women sell their goods exclusively at the grand marketplace of Koutiala.

With this new loan, the women intend to realize an average of 130,00 francs of profit in the course of this cycle. Besides repaying loans, they intend to use part of their revenues for covering the children's school costs and for coping with illnesses. In the years to come, they plan to diversify their commerce by embracing other businesses, such as opening a store for selling various good.
