Mumtaz baji is 50 years old and a married lady who has resided in a city named Arifwala, Pakistan for the past 25 years. Her husband's name is Akbar Ali, a butcher by trade. He has been running a butcher shop in the community for the past 5 years.

Mumtaz baji is the mother of five kids: three daughters and two sons. All of her kids are getting an education. Mumtaz baji has a wish to give her kids a good education. For completing that wish she operates a decorative embroidery business. She prepares embroidered dresses on order which she takes from the cloth shops, and in so doing she earns income. She uses her income to pay school fees and to share the financial burden of her husband. She is applying for a loan to buy goats for her husband’s butcher shop.

Mumtaz baji is the group leader for another three women from her locality. Shamim baji wants a loan to buy a donkey cart for transport. Sakina baji wants a loan to buy a sewing machine. Nasreen baji wants a loan to buy seasonal fruit for her fruit -selling business.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.
