Antoine Gnonlonfoun

Antoine GNONLONFOUN was born circa 1982 in Cotonou, the economic capital of Benin. He's married and the father of 2 children, out of which only the elder one attends school, the younger one being still a baby. Antoine GNONLONFOUN used to help his parents fish. He's been an adult for 9 years, and he now collects sand in the Cotonou lagoon with a group of friends. He then resells it to another man who, in turn, resells it to truck conveyers. Antoine GNONLONFOUN is seeking his third loan from Kiva's partner, Alidé, in order to purchase a motorized small boat in the coming months, and to start building semi-rigid apartments for renting. He will also continue his sand selling business.

Alidé means “there is always a path for the poorest” in Benin’s local language of Fon. Benin is a small West African country located next to Nigeria and has a per capita GDP of $1,500. Alidé offers special loans to highly vulnerable people at an interest rate of 0%. It is part of a group that is soon launching a micro health insurance program.

GNONLONFOUN Antoine est né vers 1982 à Cotonou. Antoine est marié et a deux enfants dont l'aîné seul est scolarisé; le second est encore un bébé. GNONLONFOUN Antoine aidait ses parents à faire la pêche. Adulte depuis neuf ans , Antoine recueille avec l'aide d'un groupe d'amis, le sable de la lagune de Cotonou, Capitale économique du Bénin et le revend à un autre exploitant qui, à son tour le revend aux convoyeurs de sable par camion. GNONLONFOUN Antoine est à son troisième prêt avec ALIDé. Antoine dit avoir connu une amélioration substantielle de son niveau de vie depuis qu'il a commencé par avoir de prêts à ALIDé. GNONLONFOUN Antoine demande un troisième crédit pour acquérir dans les mois à venir une barque motorisée et commencer par ériger des appartements semi-durs qu'il mettra en location tout en continuant par mener son activité de vente de sable.


La signification de ALIDé en langue locale du Bénin, le Fon, est « un chemin existe toujours pour les plus pauvres ». Le Bénin est un petit pays de l’Afrique de l’Ouest à coté du Nigeria où le PIB par habitant est à $1,500. ALIDé offre les prêts spéciaux de 0% d’intérêt aux personnes très vulnérables et elle est dans un groupe qui lance bientôt un programme de la micro-assurance santé pour les bénéficiaires de micro crédit.
