Carmen

Carmen is 41 years old. She has been married for 11 years and has a daughter. From a young age she has dedicated herself to farming as her parents were farmers. At that time they planted potatoes and peas. Ten years ago she ventured into growing vegetables at the ranch that she inherited from her parents. She also rents additional land to cultivate flowers. The sale of flowers is very profitable for her during the months of May and November but in the remaining months she dedicates herself more to her farming. Every 15 days or at the end of the month she sends her products to the markets. Depending on the prices, she will sell in her same area or will take her products to the city of Lima. This time, her sister and her husband took Carmen's products to the market in the area while Carmen took care of her niece. Carmen tries not to miss any of the meetings at her community bank which is one of the reasons why she could not go with her husband to the market to sell her products.

This is Carmen's 11th loan with MFP and in all of this time she has been responsible and has worked and paid her payments. The money she is requesting will be used to buy fertilizer for her ranch and for her cultivation of flowers which are about to bloom.

Carmen tiene 41 años, es casada hace 11 años y madre de una niña. Desde pequeña se ha dedicado al cultivo de la tierra, por ser de padres agricultores, en aquellas épocas ellos sembraban papa y arveja. Pero hace 10 años ella incursionó en la siembra de verduras en las chacras que heredó de sus padres y alquila otras tierras para el cultivo de flores. La venta de flores le resulta muy rentable durantes los meses de mayo y noviembre; pero en los otros meses se dedica mucho más a sus cultivos de hortalizas. Cada 15 días o fin de mes envía su producción a los mercados; dependiendo de los precios, vende en su misma zona o la lleva a la ciudad de Lima. Esta vez con la ayuda de su hermana y su esposo llevaron sus productos al mercado de su misma localidad, quedándose ella al cuidado de su sobrina. Carmen trata de no fallar a todas las reuniones programadas de su banco comunal, que fue uno de los motivos por los cuales ahora no fue con su esposo a la venta de sus productos. Este es su 11vo préstamo con MFP, y en todo este tiempo ha trabajado y pagado con responsabilidad sus cuotas. El dinero que solicita es para la compra de fertilizantes para su chacra de hortalizas y para sus cultivos de flores, donde está a punto de reventar el capuyo.
