Kishwar Mubarak Ali Group

Kishwar baji is a 25-year-old married woman who lives in Lahore, Pakistan. Kishwar baji’s husband, Mubarak Ali, has been selling construction supplies for the past 10 years. Kishwar baji is the mother of four children, two sons and two daughters, who are all enrolled in school. Kishwar baji sells bed sheets to her neighbors. With the income that she earned, she renovated her house. She is applying for a loan to buy sand and cement for her husband's construction business.

Kishwar baji is the leader of a group of four women from her locality. Parveen baji wants a loan to buy a lath machine. Nazia baji and Mumtaz baji each want a loan to buy thread to sell.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.

Note: "Baji," which means "older sister," is a term of respect for women in Pakistan.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
