Tasleem baji is a forty-nine-year-old married lady and has been a citizen of Lahore, in Pakistan, for the last twenty-one years. Tasleem baji is married to a man named M. Mansha who is a watchman at a local school earning a monthly wage. His earnings are very little which forced Tasleem baji to find work, so she operates a sewing business. She is the mother of seven children, five sons and two daughters. Her oldest son is an auto-rickshaw driver (a local three-wheeled motor vehicle). The second and third sons work in a factory, earning monthly wages. The younger of them manufactures sewing machines. Tasleem baji sews clothes to pay the school fees of her youngest son and her daughters. She successfully repaid her first two loans from Asasah (a microfinance institute of Pakistan). Now she is applying again for a loan to repair her elder son’s auto-rickshaw.

Tasleem baji is the group leader of four other women from her locality. Naseem baji wants a loan to buy an auto-rickshaw. Samina baji wants a loan to repair her vehicle named “Shahzore”. Mussarat baji wants a loan to repair the motorbikes she rents out. Gulzar baji wants a loan to buy vehicle oil to sell.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.
