Shama begum baji is 35 years old, a married lady and a citizen of a city named Lahore, Pakistan for the past 20 years. Shama baji is married to a man whose name is M. Humayun and he is a ticket checker in the railway. Shama baji is the mother of three kids: two sons and one daughter. All of her kids are getting an education from a school which is located near their house.

Shama begum baji is involved in a sewing business. She sews clothes to pay the school fees of her kids and to share the financial burden of her husband so that he is able to pay more attention to his work. She successfully repaid her first loan from Asasah (a micro-finance institute in Pakistan). Now she is applying again for a loan to buy clothes to sell.

Shama baji is the group leader for another five women from her locality. Bimla baji wants a loan to buy materials (chairs, table covers, and tent) for her catering. Khursheed baji wants a loan to buy groceries for her grocery shop. Naseem Sehar baji wants a loan to buy materials (cosmetics and hair dryer) for her beauty salon. Saima baji wants a loan to pay the remaining installments of her auto-rickshaw (a local three-wheeled motor vehicle). Zareena baji wants a loan to buy clothes to sell.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.
