Chama is a 48-year-old woman who lives in Tyre, Southern Lebanon with her husband and their four children. Chama has owned a bakery for 13 years. She makes “mankoucheh”. A mankoucheh looks like a folded pizza; most common toppings are zaatar (thyme), jebneh (cheese) and lahm bi ajin (minced meat). You can eat it anytime of the day, but somehow it tastes better in the morning. Chama requested a loan of $500 US dollars from Al Majmoua to purchase raw materials for her business like cheese, flour, and oil. Chama has been a micro credit client for five years now and has always paid on time.

Her previous loans helped her improve her bakery and increase her income. Chama is special in her work because she does it well and her mankoucheh are known for their good taste. Her clients can be anybody. Chama decided on this business because she wanted to supplement her family’s income. In the future, she plans to purchase a car.
