Mary is 49 years old, a single mother and native of Iquitos. She has lived in the city of Lima for 20 years. She lives with her 26-year-old son in her own house. For three years, she has sold various products like porcelain decorations, marbles and buttons in a small store she put in her house. She attends to her neighbors, who are her primary customers. Mary really enjoys her work, as it is very laid-back and allows her to generate an income to support herself. But sometimes her work leaves her tired because in the morning she works as a maid in the priests' house next to the parrish, and then works in her own business from 2 o'clock in the afternoon until about 10 at night. Mary wants to generate a better income so she can devote herself exclusively to her store and be more independent. For this reason, she wants a larger space so she can buy more products and better-equip her store. With this loan, she will buy construction materials such as bricks, cement, etc. to expand her store, sell more, obtain a better wage and soon devote herself solely to her business.
