Aisha Uwimana is thirty-seven years old. She is married and has five children. She rents a two-room house where she stays with her family. She also looks after her brother’s three children. They normally have two meals a day and her greatest expenses are house rent, school fees, and transportation to her work place.

She deals in art and crafts. She sells them in a shop that she rents. She works six days a week and she serves about ten customers a day. She has been in this business for nine years. Prior to this, she sold second-hand clothes.

Her main business challenge is that the city council keeps relocating their business premises, making her lose some of her customers. This has made her get a permanent shop to sell her products.

She has worked with MCDT for four years because they were lending to low-income earners. She will use this loan to increase her stock. She looks forward to expanding her business and being able to construct a house for her family.
