Tsolmonbaatar Pailya

Tsolmonbaatar Pailya lives with his wife and two children in Tsetserleg city, located in the Arhangay province. His children both go to kindergarten. Although his family has its own piece of land, they live in their mother's home because of its close access to the local market. Together with his wife, Tsolmonbaatar sells second hand clothing and and also transports passengers from Tsetserleg city to Ulaanbaatar, the capital. In July 2008, Tsolmonbaatar and his wife bought a freight train cargo container for 3,000,000 tugrig ($1 USD=1,570 tugrig) and converted it into a bicycle repair shop. Their daily gross income is 15,000-25,000 tugrig and the profit ranges between 7,000-15,000 tugrig a day. They have taken two loans from XacBank (Kiva's microfinance partner in Mongolia) and paid back both loans on time. Tsolmonbaatar and his wife put a lot of heart into their business and they complement each other in this family activity. In the near future, they hope to have their own piece of land located close to the local market. They also hope to build a larger repair shop. The loan will be used to purchase repair accessories and welding materials.
