Pagmatsogsmaa Sodnomdagva is a married woman with one child, living in Uvurhangay province. Uvurhangay is a one of Mongolia's southern provinces, located 400 km from the capital city, Ulaanbaatar. Pagmatsogsmaa and her family live in a "ger," which is the traditional, nomadic house in Mongolia. Her ger is situated in what is known as a “ger district,” an ad hoc settlement where many families live in gers near one another.

Since 2007 she has been running a food stall business with her own stall and employing one saleswoman. She buys candy, biscuits, cookies, chocolates, dried fruits, etc. from wholesalers and re-sells them. Her business income from the food stall is her family’s main source of income.

Pagmatsogsmaa has said in Mongolian: "I have a dream to have my own supermarket in the future". With the Lunar New Year celebration approaching, small items have sold quickly; therefore, she wants a loan to buy more food products for her food stall.

Dear Lenders,

Entrepreneur: Pagmatsogsmaa Sodnomdagva
Location: Arvayheer, Uvurhangay, Mongolia

Pagmatsogsmaa Sodnomdagva is very thankful for her lenders, Kiva and XacBank (Kiva's partmer MFI in Mongolia). It has been about four months since Pagmatsogsmaa's loan first appeared on Kiva.org, and she has fully repaid the loan several months in advance!

She spent the entire loan to purchase small household items to sell in addition to food at her store, such as detergent and soap. In February, she went to Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia, twice to purchase goods in bulk at a wholesale prices. Before Lunar New Year, she sold all of her goods, therefore her daily income from sales has increased by 70,000 tugrugs ($50 USD), and monthly profit has increased by 140,000 tugrugs ($100 USD).

She sold 80% of her inventory to local residents in her community. Since she runs a successful business, she was able to use the 200,000 tugrugs of profit to buy apparel for her husband and daughter.

About XacBank Loans:
