Benedito was born in Gaza. He is 41 years old and is married. He went to school until the 4th grade in the old system due to the lack of conditions of his parents. He is the father of 4 children with ages between 7 months and 13 years old. The 4 oldest kids go to school, and the youngest is a newborn.

Benedito left Gaza for Maputo alleging that he was going to study. Having arrived in Maputo he began to work work with his father as a mason. Years later he moved with his family to Namaacha, a town on the border of Swaziland. He started doing local work as a mason, but because his work does not pay very well in Mozambique he emigrated to South Africa. Today he is in charge, and he works on a contract base.

Over ten years ago he opened a stand in his home. Since he works far from home and is not able to satisfy the needs of his family he thought this was the best way to help his wife while he is away. He has visited his family 3 times in 3 months.

His business has a positive impact on the community and he is unable to satisfy the demands of his customers. He approached hluvuku and solicited a loan for 15,000MT to increase his inventory. His best product is beer. He buys a case for 250 and resells it for 330. A 25kg sack of rice costs 500 and is resold for 600. He has had monthly receipts of 3,000MT and is able to save 1,000MT per month. He is also responsible for his parents who live with him in his house.

Benedito already had a loan from a bank, and he paid it without difficulty. This is his first with Hluvuku and with Kiva, which he will use to purchase staple products for resale. He is confident that he will be able to pay off this loan without problems. Even if he is absent his wife will pay.
