Nargis Wazir Shah Group

Nargis baji is a 40-year-old married woman. She has been a citizen of Riwind, Pakistan for the past 15 years. Her husband, Wazir Shah, has been selling vegetables for the past 6 years. Nargis baji helps to share his financial burden by sewing clothes. She takes order from her neighbors and charges them $2 per dress. She is applying for a loan to buy seasonal vegetables to sell.

She is the leader of a group of women in her locality. Googi baji wants a loan to buy razors and scissors for her barber shop. Shahida baji wants a loan to buy a buffalo for her milk-selling business. Shahnaz baji wants a loan to buy bangles to sell.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.

Note: "Baji," which means "older sister," is a term of respect for women in Pakistan.




About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
