Naziran baji, a 56-year-old resident of Borewala, Pakistan, is the wife of Bashir Ahmad, a teacher who instructs the children in the Islamic book called The Holy Quran. Naziran baji is the mother of four sons, the first two auto-rickshaw (a local three-wheeled motor vehicle) drivers, the other two unemployed.

Naziran baji embroiders clothes, investing her income in a committee and planning to marry off her elder son when she gets the needed amount. She has repaid her first loan from Asasah (a microfinance institute of Pakistan) and is now applying for another to repair her sons’ auto-rickshaws so that they are able to continue their work.

She is a group leader of four other women in her locality:
Mumtaz bano baji wants a loan to buy wood to sell;
Maqsoodan baji wants a loan to buy shoes to sell;
Bashiran baji is requesting a loan to buy beams for her shuttering business;
Naziran baji wants a loan to buy goats for her animal-selling business.

The funds for this group loan will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans, so if one member does not repay, the others are responsible.
