Najma baji is a 44-year-old married woman. She owns a two-room brick house and has been living in it with her family for the past 44 years. Her husband's name is Munir ahmad. He is a driver by profession and drives a 32-seat local bus. Najma baji is the mother of five children: two sons and three daughters. All of her children are getting an education. Najma baji pays their school fees from her business sewing clothes. She sews clothes by taking orders from her relatives and from her neighbors. She successfully repaid her first loan from Asasah (a microfinance institute of Pakistan). Now she is applying for a loan to repair her husband’s vehicle so that he is able to continue his work.

She is the group leader of more women in her area. Naseem akhtar baji would like a loan to buy a sewing machine for sewing clothes. Shaheen baji would like a loan to buy fertilizer to sell. Sakina baji would like a loan to buy groceries for her grocery shop. Muafia baji would like a loan to buy an auto-rickshaw (a local three-wheeled motor vehicle).

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.
