Mukhtayaran Liaqat Ali Group

Mukhtayaran baji is a 48 year old married lady and has been a resident of Ismail Nagar of Lahore city, Pakistan, for the last 30 years. She could not get an education as her father had little financial resources. She married a man whose name is Liaqat ali and he has a blanket selling business. He buys blankets from different cities (Multan, Faisalabad). This has become her family business, because her three sons also involve in selling blankets. Mukhtayarn baji also helps her husband by going to different cities to buy the blankets so that her husband has more time to sell them. She successfully repaid her first loan from Asasah (a microfinance institute of Pakistan). Now she is applying for a loan to buy additional blankets to expand her family business.

She is a loan group leader of several other women of her locality. Irshad baji, Rehana kosar baji, Nasreen baji and Guddu baji each want a loan to buy blankets to sell.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.




About Group Loans
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a group of individuals bound by a group guarantee.
