Mariama Diaoula

Mariama Diaoula, age 32, is married and has three children to support. She has been a member of the village council of Goudomp for five and a half years. She wants to bolster her business selling ready refreshments made of “monkey bread” (the fruit of the baobab tree), sugar, hibiscus flowers, and flavorings. Sales are made in Goudomp and at the weekly market of Yarang on Wednesdays. The income derived from her commerce enables her to improve living conditions and to cover the children’s schooling costs. She’s requesting a loan that will be repaid all at once at the end of six months.
